Save the Date: 12 August 2024
As we approach a significant milestone in our history, we invite you to mark a special date in your calendars.
The Henry Euler Memorial Trust salutes a truly unique event to mark the 80th anniversary of the bombardment of Alderney by the battleship H.M.S. Rodney, which took place on the 12th of August 1944. It was the only occasion that the Royal Navy has ever been ordered to fire on British soil.
At 14.12 hours on that day, the first of 75 16-inch high explosive shells struck the German Battery Blücher at La Basse Corvée in the centre of Alderney.
